The site is located approximately thirteen kilometers from Pir Ghazi Shah village, and 24 km south of Johi town in Dadu district of Sindh. The site is 336 meters long and 305 meters wide while about 6m high from its surrounding level. It is situated on a rock bed which slightly elevates the site above the surrounding plain. The ancient remains fall approximately eighteen kilometers east of the Kirthar Mountains.
Ali Murad is a low mound with visible architectural features exposed on the surface, the walls of the site are composed of stone foundations with mud brick superstructures. Surface of the site is thickly littered with potsherds and brick bats beside very good number of terracotta objects, chert, steatite, carnelian stones and shells.
